Once again it has been a while. I really must try harder!
well, life is moving along – slowly but surely. Still having regular checks, scans, blood tests, etc etc but (for today anyway) everything is ok.
I’m not sure if I have mentioned this before, but I have been trying to learn to play golf. Quite a big ask for someone with no eye to hand coordination, no energy and constant fatigue but hey, gotta give it a go. So that’s what I did and what do ya know….I’m rubbish at it!!
But, just because I’m no good at it doesn’t mean I can’t look good does it?
Knitted Head covers
…..going back to what I’m good at, I knitted some head covers for my golf clubs!
I may not be the best player but looking like a vase of flowers my clubs at least look pretty!
Thought I’d share another of my makes with you.
I’m not sure if I’ve told you before but I belong to a local knitting group where a throng of like minded ladies get together and knit all kinds of things for charities – hats and gloves that go to homeless people or people in cold countries, blankets for neo natal units at the hospital or even animal shelters etc etc. We also knit things to raise money for the fantastic palliative care centre that has helped all of us get through bad times at some stage or another, they are always there with a cup of tea and a hug – I know I have been very glad for them at times. They definitely got me through my worst moments.
Anyway at the moment we are getting together a flower garden to go on display and (hopefully) raise funds for the centre. This is just one of my contributions, a stand alone mushroom garden
And a photo of the newspaper article it appeared in
That it for now, gave a great day
This post has been sometime coming. I have no good reason, or excuse……but I do apologise to all of you that have been waiting, longing for my next post ! Ha! Ha!
the thing is, there hasn’t been a whole lot to say lately, But my old crochet hook has been on fire!!
A few months ago I joined a knitting group that meets at our local palliative care unit and I have got embroiled in charitable makes and display pieces and in between times I have been making stuff for ‘Vintage Miss Daisy’
one of the more popular pieces has to be the Hippie-Potamus……
I have been making them to order…..
Made from a pattern by Heidi Bears they are so sweet. I love the colours I chose to use, they blend in with my vintage style perfectly!
right now I have a cup of tea with my name on it!
With the weather getting a bit more chilly by the day I thought it was time to get out the crochet hook.
with a little inspiration from the wonderful internet and not a pattern insight, this is what turned out……
A cabbage patch kid Hat!
I’ve had quite a lot of compliments on this while I have been out walking the dogs. ‘Him indoors’ who doesn’t have much hair showed quite an interest in it as well! May I shall have to make one for him! X
It has definitely been a while since I have posted anything on here……..so sorry, very rude of me!
The thing is I have been just so VERY busy.
I have had family come to visit for a couple of weeks – which was an absolute treat. I loved having them here.
But as well as that I have still been trying to sort out online selling. it’s getting on my nerves now! I have wasted so much time trying to sort out computer stuff, time that could be far better spent making things!! Very unsatisfactory to my mind.
I just don’t understand why my items never seem to show up on google searches…….to be fair online selling is pretty rubbish if my marvellous creations can’t be found. I’ll never sell much like that and it might take a while to make my first million.
To be fair, I heard it said once that the second million is easier to make – so I might start with that one first! Ha Ha!
One of my newer ‘marvelous’ creations is a crochet bunny with an itsy bitsy butterfly resting on its foot.
“Does my bum look big in this?”
We have lived here at the seaside for just over a year now and I absolutely love it. Despite the fact that we have had a bit of a rough time (him indoors had major surgery last summer and took 3 months to recover, our cat got kidney disease and “went to a better place” – he was well old, we think about 17 years – and the I got ‘the cancer’) but even with everything that has happened I wouldn’t change a thing. Well that’s not quite true.
The house we had before was larger, not a mansion by any means, but it was a four bed house with just me & him (and a son that stayed a while!) in it, and I was lucky enough to be able to claim the smallest bedroom as my craft room.
A whole room dedicated to my crafty untidyness….Bliss!
Him indoors shelved the entire end wall for me to my specifications to fit my needs, and I had full length curtains in front so I could hide the organised chaos! I had my work table and two chairs (so that any visiting grand daughters could join in), my computer and a stereo. A beautifully light room with a big window and lovingly known as ‘The Doing room’ what more could I want?
I spent many lovely long hours in there – just me and my craftiness, especially when I was preparing for a craft fair……..heaven!
Then when we moved we down sized to a two bed bungalow – which I really do love. Every day here I feel like I am on holiday. The bugalow has a kind of holiday lodge feel to it. It’s small (but perfectly formed) but it fits us and our visitors ok. The only thing missing is my craft room, and I do miss that.
I have the benefit of a room in the garden which I have called ‘The Makery’. Its ok in the summer months but not much fun in the winter time. My granddaughters love it out there and we can lose the youngest one for hours on end. But, for me, it’s not the same as my Doing Room.
My craft bits are spread around the entire bungalow, bits here, bits there because no where is big enough to take it all in one place.
Sigh……..I do miss my craft room.
Just a quick note of something I’ve made lately….
Little Sweet Peas
a ‘Her’ type of pea
a ‘Him’ type of pea
I decided this morning that I would add a link to my website Vintage Miss Daisy and also my Folksy shop. So I did just that! Not much on them at the moment but I hope that will change soon.
I do wish I was more computer friendly though…….these kinds of things take me so long to sort out, I feel like I’ve done a days work already!!
For the eagle eyed amongst you, you will have noticed that at the moment my website is off line……that is the next step….bear with, bear with! (I just LOVE Miranda!)
I am LOVING the crochet just lately…….I just can’t seem to stop……I’m like a thing possessed. Hee hee!
My craft stall is called ‘Vintage Miss Daisy’ and although I haven’t been out and about with it lately it is still in my mind all the time, thinking, planning, making. And today I thought I would make a daisy that I could put in the car.
This is what turned out
So that it would stand up I weighted the ‘body’ with pearl barley (ideally that could have benefited from being put into an old stocking or some such similar so it didn’t fall out through the stitches! Note to self for next time!)
