Not mush room in ‘ere…..

Standard

Thought I’d share another of my makes with you.

I’m not sure if I’ve told you before but I belong to a local knitting group where a throng of like minded ladies get together and knit all kinds of things for charities – hats and gloves that go to homeless people or people in cold countries, blankets for neo natal units at the hospital or even animal shelters etc etc. We also knit things to raise money for the fantastic palliative care centre that has helped all of us get through bad times at some stage or another, they are always there with a cup of tea and a hug – I know I have been very glad for them at times. They definitely got me through my worst moments.

Anyway at the moment we are getting together a flower garden to go on display and (hopefully) raise funds for the centre. This is just one of my contributions, a stand alone mushroom garden

It’s been a while…..

Standard

This post has been sometime coming. I have no good reason, or excuse……but I do apologise to all of you that have been waiting, longing for my next post ! Ha! Ha!

the thing is, there hasn’t been a whole lot to say lately,  But my old crochet hook has been on fire!!

A few months ago I joined a knitting group that meets at our local palliative care unit and I have got embroiled in charitable makes and display pieces and in between times I have been making stuff for ‘Vintage Miss Daisy’

one of the more popular pieces has to be the Hippie-Potamus……

Hippie-Potamus

I have been making them to order…..

Made from a pattern by Heidi Bears they are so sweet. I love the colours I chose to use, they blend in with my vintage style perfectly!

right now I have a cup of tea with my name on it!

Shall I or Shan’t I…………..

It’s been a while since I have posted anything on here. The truth is that I haven’t been feeling my chirpiest for quite a bit of the time and I didn’t really want to chat. I think that the tablets I have to take are having a few side effects……hopefully I’ll get over them – I don’t fancy feeling like this for five years!

However I think the worst of that might be over for a while! My mind has been getting quite creative and this morning I had a bit of a bright idea.

One that was either going to be brilliant or a complete disaster!

In our lounge I have two pine chests of drawers. I love them for their use but pine is not particularly my style – so I decided I would give them a facelift.

This is how it started

This is how it started

It was quite a major decision as to whether to actually do this or not……

No turning back now

No turning back now

Oh, what the heck!!  Grab the courage of my convictions and get on with it!!!

And I’m so glad I did.

Ta Dah!

Ta Dah!

I’m rather pleased with the result.

Just got another one to do tomorrow. Out of interest I took a photo of the two windows for comparison. I think it really brightens it all up.

a little shabby chic………

This is how it started...

This is how it started…

My hubby came home last week with a couple of little chests of drawers. They had definitely seen better days but he just wanted to put them into his workshop / garage.

Well I’ve looked at them for a week, just sitting there, in the conservatory looking sorry for themselves so today I decided to cheer them up a bit!

This was the result

I had fun with my little bit of upcycling, hope you enjoy seeing it………..hope hubby likes it too!

some crochet……..

Standard

The hook has been out again!
This time I decided to make a bag from my stash of yarn. I don’t know what it is about bags but I just love them.
IMG_20130607_144740
Not satisfied with just a crochet bag – they can have a few problems after all with things falling through the holes or stretching beyond all recognition – I decided a lining would be necessary.
IMG_20130607_144956
One thing led on to another and I started thinking I could have loads in different colour schemes. From there I decided to make the lining as a separate inner bag.
IMG_20130607_144904
Made from a light canvas material and with buttons on each side to hold it to the outside crocheted bag and a zippered top I think it turned out pretty well. Now I can just transfer the ‘inner’ to any ‘outer’ that I choose to make.
Also, with my absolute love of things to be adaptable, I made the strap so that it is adjustable with buttons, so it can be made shorter.
What do you think? Did the girl do well? Xx

Aside

It’s my birthdaytoday –  yaaay, Happy Birthday to me!!

I’ve finally gotten around to loading some pics of my blanket – I have spent more time making and less on the blog than I should!!

(The eagle eyed amongst you will notice a poodle lurking in the background – she can’t resist a photo oportunity.)

All that is left is a border around and then I’ll call it done!

Also, I’ve been to the hospital today and have been told my surgery will be monday week – god that’s scary………..

That’s it for now xx

Happy Birthday to me!……

Back to the blanket

So, finally got it started and it looked like this…

Not too bad me thinks but maybe it needs a bit more?

100_3292

Getting better but maybe just a little bit more?

So it’s turned into this… and I quite like it. Looking GOOD.

Now, I know that green wasn’t in the original colour pallette, but it seemed to me that it needed a bit darker in there somewhere. Not only that, but,  like eveything else I make, it is a living project – that’s my excuse anyway!
